A refined design with a timeless fit, The Shorts by åäö are crafted to accompany your every summer adventure with effortless grace. Developed in The Kingdom of Sweden and made from our lightweight fabric woven in Borås, they distill the essence of summer into a single garment. Every detail, from the flow-through pockets to the hidden drawstring, is carefully considered to create an uncompromising garment.
The fabric naturally repels water and dirt, breathes with ease, and moves with the body. The Shorts are a celebration of the freedom that summer brings.
A refined silhouette doesn't just happen by accident. The back pocket conceals more than it reveals. Hidden beneath the double piping, the zipper sits neatly out of view, preserving the line while keeping your belongings secure. The lower part of all pockets is finished with mesh fabric that allows water to pass through easily. This design is built for spontaneous swims without drawing attention. Everything is exactly where it should be.
The fabric is soft, dries fast, and breathes even faster. It’s woven for movement and comfort in The Kingdom of Sweden. A water-repellent finish keeps drops out, while the soft interior keeps air flowing. The yellow Square? It’s a signature. Seven stitches per side, turned 90 degrees, sewn with a saddle stitch machine. A mark of our obsession with every choice made in our products.
It took over two years to develop The Shorts. More than fifty field tests across cities, beaches, and borders. Every seam, stitch, and cut was refined, again and again, until nothing was left to improve. You won’t see the hours that went into making them, but you will feel the freedom. We did the thinking, so you can enjoy the peace of mind that comes with wearing something truly uncompromising. Finished with a hand-signed mark from the seamstress who crafted them for you.
We devote as much time to the box as most people do to the product itself. The result is a beautifully structured paper wrap in Rainbow Saffron, which is screen-printed by hand just outside Stockholm. This traditional technique involves pulling ink through a fine mesh screen using a handheld spatula. Each pass requires steady hands, uniform pressure and millimetre-perfect precision. It takes longer. It’s worth it.
